رَضيتُ حُكومَةَ المِرقالِ قَيسٍ
وَماand not أَخسَستُI demeaned myself إِذwhen حَكَّمتُI appointed as arbiter خاليmy maternal uncle
وَما أَخسَستُ إِذ حَكَّمتُ خالي
I accepted the judgment of Qays al-Mirqāl.
I was satisfied with the rule of Qais's council,
And I did not demean myself when I made my maternal uncle arbiter.
And I did not feel cheated when I appointed my uncle.

He has a hand that pours forth blood, and a hand
He has a hand that spills blood, and a hand
Whose generosity rivals the north wind's downpour.
Whose generosity rivals the pouring rain of the north.
وَنَحنُand we الحاكِمونَthe arbiters بِكُلِّin every أَمرٍmatter
وَنَحنُ الحاكِمونَ بِكُلِّ أَمرٍ

قَديماً نَبتَني شَرَفَ المَعالي
And we are the arbiters in every matter;
And we are the rulers in every matter,
From of old, we have built the glory of lofty deeds.
Since ancient times we were endowed with the glory of nobility.

And among us, as long as we endure, there will always be
As long as we exist, it will not cease in us
One radiant of face, white as the crescent moon.
The one with the radiant face, white like the crescent moon.

Take heed, O Mālik, do not grow more foolish:
Do not, O negligent one, increase in foolishness,
The judgment of a noble man, steadfast in speech.
The case of Majid is firmly established.
