فَإِنَّماfor only كانَwas شَمّاسٌShammās مِنَamong الناسِhumankind
فَإِنَّما كانَ شَمّاسٌ مِنَ الناسِ
Hold fast to your modesty, in honor and nobility.
Restrain your bashfulness whether in honor or generosity
For Shammās was but one among humankind.
For he who reproached was but a candle-lighter among men
قَدindeed كانَwas حَمزَةُHamza لَيثَlion of اللَهِGod فَاِصطَبِريso be patient
قَد كانَ حَمزَةُ لَيثَ اللَهِ فَاِصطَبِري

فَذاقَ يَومَإِذٍ مِن كاسِ شَمّاسِ
Hamza was indeed the lion of God, so be patient.
Hamzah was the lion of God, so be patient
And that day he tasted from Shammās’s cup.
For he tasted one day from the cup of the candle-lighter
