By God, Umayya did not counsel his firstborn

with the counsel that Jacob gave.

His counsel, as he turned to go in the morning, was

betrayal of neighborly trust and sin before God.

My sons, if you try to steal,

then take pickaxes, every one of them sturdy.

Then approach people's houses from the rear,

until every one of them is left breached.

I have indeed kept the counsel of one who knows,

when old age and gray hair overtook me.

His son said to his grandsons and his kinsmen:

I am indeed well versed in what my father enjoined.

He enjoined unbelief upon them as he lay dying,

    and embraced polytheism and denial.
