إِن تَكُ مِطعامَ العَشِيّاتِ مِن غِنىً

إِن تَكُ مِطعامَ العَشِيّاتِ مِن غِنىً

فَإِنَّكَ حَيّادٌ عَنِ الحَقِّ مانِعُ

فَإِنَّكَ حَيّادٌ عَنِ الحَقِّ مانِعُ

If, from your riches, you feed people lavishly evening after evening,

If you are a lavish provider of evening meals out of wealth,

you nonetheless evade what is rightfully due and withhold it.

then you are one who shuns what is right and withholds it.

وَزادُكَ ذَمٌّ في الحَياةِ وَإِن تَمُت

وَزادُكَ ذَمٌّ في الحَياةِ وَإِن تَمُت

فَحَظُّكَ رُكنٌ مِن جَهَنَّمَ واسِعُ

فَحَظُّكَ رُكنٌ مِن جَهَنَّمَ واسِعُ

My censure is your provision in this life; and if you die,

And your provision in life is blame; and if you die,

your lot is a spacious corner of Hell.

then your share is a spacious corner of Hell.
