ياO عَينُeye جوديpour forth generously بِدَمعٍwith tears مِنكِfrom you أَسبالِcascading
وَلاand do not تَمَلِّنَّever tire مِنof سَحٍّpouring down وَإِعوالِand wailing
O eye, pour forth your tears in streaming floods;
O eye, pour forth your cascading tears,
never weary of their copious flow and loud lament.
And never tire of pouring tears and wailing.
لاdo not تَعِدانِيَyou two promise me بَعدَafter اليَومِtoday دَمعَكُماyour tears (you two)

You two, do not withhold your tears from me after this day:
Do not promise me your tears, you two, for after today;
I am bereaved, and not one whose grief fades into consolation.
I am stricken, and I find no solace.
فَإِنَّfor indeed مَنعَكُماyour withholding (you two) مِنfrom بَعدِafter بَذلِكُماyour giving (you two)
إِيّايَme مِثلُlike الَّذيthe one who قَدalready غُرَّwas deceived بِالآلِby the mirage
For the withholding by you two, after your free outpouring,
For your withholding, after your generous giving,
from me is like what befalls one deceived by a mirage.
makes me like one deceived by a mirage.

Rather, pour down upon my breast in fourfold streams;
But pour upon my chest in four streams—
for within these ribs a raging anguish assails—
for within my ribs dwells a burning thought—

by one water-bearer to another, laden with it as it pours,

O eye, weep for God’s Messenger whenever mention is made of
O eye, then weep for God's Messenger when mention is made
God’s very Being—how excellent the one who stood forth, the guardian!
of God Himself: how excellent an upholder and guardian he was!
