At the time when Ayman’s mother said to him,

“You were cowardly and did not encounter the horsemen of Khaybar.”

Yet Ayman was not cowardly; rather, his colt

Was harmed by drinking fermented gruel.

So, but for what had happened to his colt,

He would have fought there as a sure-handed horseman.

But his colt’s behavior had held him back,

And what it did was no easy matter for him.
