By the life of Sumayya’s father, I do not care
By my father Sumayya, I don't care
whether the billy goat bleated or Judham spoke.
If the goat bleated or the leper spoke,
إِذاwhen ماemphatic particle شاتُهُمtheir she-goat وَلَدَتgave birth تَنادَواthey called to one another
إِذا ما شاتُهُم وَلَدَت تَنادَوا

Whenever their she-goat gives birth, they call to one another:
When their mothers give birth, they cry out,
“Is there a kid beneath your she-goat, or a boy?”
"My oldest, are you under your mother a boy or a girl?"
