وَقَدand indeed كانَthere was فيin أَريابِAryab عِزٌّmight وَمِنعَةٌand protection
وَقَد كانَ في أَريابِ عِزٌّ وَمِنعَةٌ
وَقيلٌand a king بَسيطٌoutstretched كَفُّهُhis palm وَأَنامِلُهand his fingers
وَقيلٌ بَسيطٌ كَفُّهُ وَأَنامِلُه
And indeed, in Aryab there were might and protection,
There was honor and protection in the tents of Ariab,
And a king whose palm and fingers were outstretched.
And an eloquent speech whose palm and fingers were simple.
وَأَينَand where الَذيthe one who عَلّىraised high بُرَيدَةُBurayda قَصرَهُhis palace
وَأَينَ الَذي عَلّى بُرَيدَةُ قَصرَهُ
وَفارِسُand the horseman هَمدانٍHamdan فَمَنthen who ذاthat one يُنازِلُهfaces him in combat
وَفارِسُ هَمدانٍ فَمَن ذا يُنازِلُه
And where is he whose palace Burayda raised high?
Where is the one whose palace Bureida elevated?
And the horseman of Hamdan—who, then, would face him in combat?
And the horseman of Hamdan - who can rival him?
