أَلاtake heed! مَنwho مُبلِغٌone who conveys عَنّيon my behalf أُبَيّاًUbayy
لَقَدindeed أُلقيتَyou have been cast فيinto سُحقِthe far depths السَعيرِthe blazing Fire
Ah, who will carry word from me to Ubayy?
Alas! Who will convey from me to the tyrannical one,
You have indeed been cast into the far depths of the blazing Fire.
You have surely been cast into blazing hellfire,
تَمَنّىyou wish بِالضَلالَةِin error مِنfrom بَعيدٍafar
وَتُقسِمُand you swear إِنif قَدَرتَyou can مَعَalong with النُذورِthe vows
You dream in error from afar,
You wish for misguidance from afar,
And you swear, if you can, along with vows.
And you swear if you could along with vows,
تَمَنَّيكَyour wishing الأَمانيhopes مِنfrom بَعيدٍafar
وَقَولُand the utterance of الكُفرِunbelief يَرجِعُreturns فيin غُرورِdelusion
Your wishful dreaming from afar,
Your wishes are far-fetched dreams,
And words of unbelief end in delusion.
And the words of unbelief return in vain conceit,
فَقَدfor indeed لاقَتكَmet you طَعنَةُa thrust ذيone possessing حِفاظٍa sense of honor
كَريمِnoble البَيتِhousehold لَيسَis not بِذيpossessed of فُجورِwickedness
For the thrust of a man of honor has struck you,
So the stab of the vigilant one has met you,
Of noble house, not given to wickedness.
The generous one of the house, not one of immorality,
لَهُhe has فَضلٌpreeminence عَلىover الأَحياءِthe clans طُرّاًall without exception
He excels all the clans without exception,
He has abundant merit over the living altogether,
When life's calamities strike.
When the calamities of matters turn about.
