عَلَيكَupon you بِمَجدٍwith glory ياO اِبنَson of مَقطوعَةِsevered (feminine) اليَدِthe hand
The sun of day has never risen, nor appeared
The sun has not risen or shone gloriously on you,
upon you with glory, O son of the woman whose hand was severed.
O son of the man with the severed hand.
أَبوكَyour father لَقيطٌLaqit أَلأَمُbasest الناسِof people مَوضِعاًin station
تَبَنّىembraced عَلَيكَfor you اللُؤمَbaseness فيin كُلِّevery مَشهَدِgathering
Your father, Laqit, is the basest of men in station;
Your father is a foundling, the most contemptible of people.
he embraced baseness for you in every gathering.
Disgrace has adopted you wherever you stand.
إِذاif الدَهرُtime عَفّىeffaces فيin تَقادُمِthe aging of عَهدِهِits span
عَلىover عارِthe shame of قَومٍa people كانَwould be لُؤمُكَyour baseness فيin غَدِtomorrow
If time, as its years advance, effaces
When time in its advancement overlooks
a people's shame, your baseness will still remain tomorrow.
The shame of a people, your disgrace was yesterday.
