ياO لِلرِجالِto the men, appealing for help لِدَمعٍfor tears هاجَsurged بِالسَنَنِalong the course
يا لِلرِجالِ لِدَمعٍ هاجَ بِالسَنَنِ
لَقَدindeed عَجِبتُI marveled لِمَنat whoever يَبكيweeps عَلىover الدِمَنِabandoned campsites
لَقَد عَجِبتُ لِمَن يَبكي عَلى الدِمَنِ
O men, help me against tears surging along their course!
O weepers, shed tears that flow for the slain
Indeed, I marvel at anyone who weeps over abandoned camps.
I am amazed that some weep for houses of clay

Indeed, I saw God's trusted one oppressed—
I saw the trustee of God persecuted
Uthman, a captive in the keeping of the graves and the shroud.
Othman held hostage by shrouds and the sword

Oh, may God curse a people whose deed was
May God destroy a people who slew
the killing of the trustworthy, discerning Muslim leader.
The leader, the Muslim of wisdom and faith

They did not kill him for any sin he had committed,
They killed him not for any crime he committed
except what they falsely alleged—and it never existed.
Except the lies they spoke that did not exist

Whenever I remember him, in rivulets overflows
When I remember him my eyes shed
my eye, with tears streaming down both cheeks.
Tears down my cheeks in floods of four
