هَذا ضَريحُ أَخي المَحامِدِ وَالتُقى

هَذا ضَريحُ أَخي المَحامِدِ وَالتُقى

مَن كانَ فَذا في المُروءَةِ أوجِدا

مَن كانَ فَذا في المُروءَةِ أوجِدا

This is the tomb of a brother to virtues and piety,

This is the tomb of my brother, exemplar of praiseworthy traits

Who was created peerless in chivalry.

The most courageous and devout man that can be found

بَل ذا مَقامِ الجودِ وَالإِحسانِ وَال

بَل ذا مَقامِ الجودِ وَالإِحسانِ وَال

فَضلِ العَميمِ إِلى الأَحِبَّةِ العِدى

فَضلِ العَميمِ إِلى الأَحِبَّةِ العِدى

Rather, this is the abode of generosity, benevolence, and

Nay, this was a man of utmost generosity, kindness and grace

All-embracing bounty toward loved ones and foes—

Of boundless excellence towards loved ones, however estranged

الشَهمُ سَعدُ اللَهِ حَلابو الَّذي

الشَهمُ سَعدُ اللَهِ حَلابو الَّذي

مِن بَعدِهِ الآمالَ قَد ذَهَبَت سُدى

مِن بَعدِهِ الآمالَ قَد ذَهَبَت سُدى

The noble-hearted Saad Allah Hallabo, the one

Saadullah - may God make him prosper - Halabu whom

After whom hopes have come to nothing.

After his passing, hopes have drifted fruitlessly away

وَاللَهِ ما كَذَبوا إِذا ما أَرخو

وَاللَهِ ما كَذَبوا إِذا ما أَرخو

قَد ماتَ سَعدُ اللَهِ يَتبَعُهُ النَدا

قَد ماتَ سَعدُ اللَهِ يَتبَعُهُ النَدا

By God, they did not lie when they recorded the date:

By God they spoke no falsehood when they let down

“Indeed, Saad Allah has died, and generosity follows him.”

The curtain for Saadullah, followed by the bier

فَعَسى الكَريمُ يُضاعِفنَ ثَوابَهُ

فَعَسى الكَريمُ يُضاعِفنَ ثَوابَهُ

وَيَفيهِ أَحسنَ ما لَدَيهِ وَأَحمَدا

وَيَفيهِ أَحسنَ ما لَدَيهِ وَأَحمَدا

So may the Generous One surely multiply his reward,

May the Benevolent double his reward

And grant him in full the best and most praiseworthy of what He has.

And grace him the best that He possesses, and beyond
