كَفانيhas shielded me رَبُّthe Lord of الناسِmankind أَعيُنَthe eyes of حَسديmy enviers

The Lord of mankind has shielded me from my enviers’ eyes,
The Lord of mankind has spared me the envious eyes,
Over an honor I have attained that cannot be denied.
Of a nobility I attained, none can deny.
فَمَولايَfor my lord أَولانيfavored me بِصورَةِwith a portrait of شَخصِهِhis person
وَناهيكَand sufficient for you مِنof فَضلٍa favor بِهِthrough it العَبدُthe servant يَسعَدfinds happiness
For my lord has favored me with a portrait of himself,
My Master honored me with his blessed face,
And what a favor—through it the servant finds happiness!
And ceaseless grace, that brings the servant bliss.
فَماso not كُلُّevery تَشريفٍhonor يَنالُis received يُعَدُّcounts بَلrather
بِصورَةِwith a portrait of عَبّاسٍAbbas تَشَرَّفَwas honored أَحمَدُAhmad
So not every honor received counts; rather,
Not every honor can be deemed so fine,
With a portrait of Abbas, Ahmad was honored.
But with Abbas' noble face Ahmad's blessed.
