عَزيزُ القُطرِ مَولانا الخِديوي

عَزيزُ القُطرِ مَولانا الخِديوي

أَدامَ اللَهُ دَولَتَهُ العَلِيَّه

أَدامَ اللَهُ دَولَتَهُ العَلِيَّه

The land’s exalted ruler, our lord the Khedive—

Our beloved Viceroy of Egypt

May God perpetuate his august rule—

May God make his rule everlasting

رَأى الشَهمَ الوَجيهِ بِعَينِ حَزمِ

رَأى الشَهمَ الوَجيهِ بِعَينِ حَزمِ

وَقَدِّر قَدرَ فِطنَتِهِ الزَكِيَّه

وَقَدِّر قَدرَ فِطنَتِهِ الزَكِيَّه

Regarded the gallant, distinguished man with a judicious eye,

He saw the noble youth with discerning eyes

And valued the worth of his keen discernment.

And recognized his pure, brilliant perception

وَأَهداهُ وَيا نِعمَ الهَدايا

وَأَهداهُ وَيا نِعمَ الهَدايا

بِثاني رُتبَةٍ مِنهُ بَهِيَّه

بِثاني رُتبَةٍ مِنهُ بَهِيَّه

And presented him—oh, what excellent gifts!—

And granted him, what a fine gift,

With a splendid second rank from himself.

The exalted second-class rank

فَناسَبَ مَجدَها مَجداً لَدَيهِ

فَناسَبَ مَجدَها مَجداً لَدَيهِ

وَجانِس قَدرَها أَصلَ السَجِيَّه

وَجانِس قَدرَها أَصلَ السَجِيَّه

Thus its glory matched the glory he possessed,

Which befits his glory before him

And its worth accorded with his innate character.

And matches his lineage, the noble roots

وَحَقَّ لَن نورَخها كمالاً

وَحَقَّ لَن نورَخها كمالاً

لِعَبدِ القادِرِ الرُتَبِ السَنِيَّه

لِعَبدِ القادِرِ الرُتَبِ السَنِيَّه

And it is fitting for us [wording uncertain] to record its date in full:

And truly, we shall never lower it, perfection

“For Abd al-Qadir are the lofty ranks.”
