إِلى اللَهِ شُكراً آلَ مِصرَ إِلَيكُم

إِلى اللَهِ شُكراً آلَ مِصرَ إِلَيكُم

زَمانَ سُعودِكُم رَصَدتُم مَطالِعَهُ

زَمانَ سُعودِكُم رَصَدتُم مَطالِعَهُ

Thanks be to God, O people of Egypt, for you.

In your time of good fortune, you watched for its first signs.

فَزَمانٌ بِهِ الحُسنى يَقدِرُ قَدرَها

فَزَمانٌ بِهِ الحُسنى يَقدِرُ قَدرَها

وَتُضَحّي بِهِ شَمسُ المَعارِفِ ساطِعَهُ

وَتُضَحّي بِهِ شَمسُ المَعارِفِ ساطِعَهُ

It is a time in which goodness knows its worth,

And in it the sun of knowledge shines brightly.

فَهّا سَنى القَدرُ مِفضالَ عَصرِهِ

فَهّا سَنى القَدرُ مِفضالَ عَصرِهِ

شَريفَ المَعاني مَن يُرينا بَدائِعَهُ

شَريفَ المَعاني مَن يُرينا بَدائِعَهُ

So behold the splendor of destiny, the generous man of his age,

Noble in spirit, who shows us his wonders.

مُدَبِّرُ ديوانُ الخِديوي مُديرُهُ

مُدَبِّرُ ديوانُ الخِديوي مُديرُهُ

مُعضِدٌ شَأنَ الحَقِّ مُنذُ تَرَبُّعَهُ

مُعضِدٌ شَأنَ الحَقِّ مُنذُ تَرَبُّعَهُ

The administrator and director of the Khedive’s bureau,

Upholding the cause of truth since his accession.

تَدانَت لَهُ العَليا وَأَمَّت رِكابَهُ

تَدانَت لَهُ العَليا وَأَمَّت رِكابَهُ

وَبَينَ يَدَيهِ رايَةَ المَجدِ رافِعَهُ

وَبَينَ يَدَيهِ رايَةَ المَجدِ رافِعَهُ

High rank drew near to him and sought his company,

While before him he raised the banner of glory.

فَلَم يَكُ إِلّا آمِراً مَن يُريدَهُ

فَلَم يَكُ إِلّا آمِراً مَن يُريدَهُ

وَلَم يَكُ إِلّا كَيفَما شاءَ خاضِعَهُ

وَلَم يَكُ إِلّا كَيفَما شاءَ خاضِعَهُ

He had only to command whomever he wished,

And that person submitted as he wished.

وَما هَذِهِ الآلاءُ إِلّا مَآثِرُ

وَما هَذِهِ الآلاءُ إِلّا مَآثِرُ

إِلى سَيِّدٍ في الحَزمِ وَالعَزمِ تابِعَهُ

إِلى سَيِّدٍ في الحَزمِ وَالعَزمِ تابِعَهُ

These blessings are deeds of distinction

Belonging to a lord steadfast in prudence and resolve.

فَلَمّا قُضِيَ التَوفيقُ وَالأَمرُ قَد بَدا

فَلَمّا قُضِيَ التَوفيقُ وَالأَمرُ قَد بَدا

وَطارَت بِهِ وَرقُ البَشائِرِ ساجِعَهُ

وَطارَت بِهِ وَرقُ البَشائِرِ ساجِعَهُ

When success was decreed and the matter became clear,

The birds of glad tidings flew, singing of it.

وَجَدنا مَليكاً أَريحِيّاً تَزينُهُ

وَجَدنا مَليكاً أَريحِيّاً تَزينُهُ

صِفاتُ كَمالٍ لِلمَحامِدِ جامِعَهُ

صِفاتُ كَمالٍ لِلمَحامِدِ جامِعَهُ

We found a generous ruler adorned

With qualities of perfection that gather every virtue:

زَكاءٌ وَحِلمٌ وَاِقتِدارٌ وَحِكمَةٌ

زَكاءٌ وَحِلمٌ وَاِقتِدارٌ وَحِكمَةٌ

وَحُسنُ أَطلاعٍ مِنهُ نُنفِقُ مَن سِعَهُ

وَحُسنُ أَطلاعٍ مِنهُ نُنفِقُ مَن سِعَهُ

Intelligence, forbearance, ability, and wisdom,

And keen insight, from whose abundance we draw.

وَحَسبُ المَلا مِنهُ اِنتِقاءَ رِجالِهِ

وَحَسبُ المَلا مِنهُ اِنتِقاءَ رِجالِهِ

بِرَأيٍ عَجيبٍ مِنهُ صادَفَ مَوقِعَهُ

بِرَأيٍ عَجيبٍ مِنهُ صادَفَ مَوقِعَهُ

His choice of his men is proof enough for the people:

With remarkable judgment, he chose fittingly.

فَيارَبِّ هَيِّئ كُلَّ أَمرٍ يُريدُهُ

فَيارَبِّ هَيِّئ كُلَّ أَمرٍ يُريدُهُ

وَهَنِّئهُ بِالمُلكِ السَعيدِ وَكُم مَعَهُ

وَهَنِّئهُ بِالمُلكِ السَعيدِ وَكُم مَعَهُ

So, Lord, prepare every matter he desires,

And grant him joy in his fortunate reign, and you with him.

وَغَرزٌ بِمَحمودِ الخِصالِ شُؤنُهُ

وَغَرزٌ بِمَحمودِ الخِصالِ شُؤنُهُ

وَتَمِّم لَهُ خَيراً وَعَمِّم مَنافِعَهُ

وَتَمِّم لَهُ خَيراً وَعَمِّم مَنافِعَهُ

His affairs are rooted in praiseworthy qualities;

Complete what is good for him, and spread its benefits.
