طابَbecame sweet حَظٌّfortune بَداappeared بِعودِwith the return of الدَرينيal-Darini
طابَ حَظٌّ بَدا بِعودِ الدَريني
وَالهَناand happiness لاحَshone فَوقَabove كُلِّevery جَبينِbrow
وَالهَنا لاحَ فَوقَ كُلِّ جَبينِ
Sweet fortune dawned with al-Darini's return,
Good fortune shone when the beloved returned
And happiness shone above every brow.
And joy appeared above every brow
فَقَضىso he completed حَجَّهُhis pilgrimage وَساقَand drove المَطاياthe mounts
فَقَضى حَجَّهُ وَساقَ المَطايا
نَحوَtoward روحِthe soul of الوُجودِexistence خَيرُthe best أَمينِtrustworthy one
نَحوَ روحِ الوُجودِ خَيرُ أَمينِ
He completed his pilgrimage and drove the mounts
He fulfilled his Hajj and guided the mounts
Toward the soul of existence, the best of the trustworthy:
Towards the spirit of existence, the best trustee
البَشيرُthe bearer of glad tidings النَذيرُthe warner يَسYa-Sin طَهَTa-Ha
البَشيرُ النَذيرُ يَس طَهَ
خاتَمُthe seal of الرُسُلِthe messengers ذيpossessor of المَقامِthe station المَكينِfirmly established
خاتَمُ الرُسُلِ ذي المَقامِ المَكينِ
The bearer of glad tidings, the warner, Ya-Sin, Ta-Ha,
The bearer of glad tidings, the warner as well
The seal of the messengers, whose station is firmly established.
The seal of prophets, of established position
فضتَمليapparently, 'so he delighted' بِزَورَةٍin a visit تَعدِلُequals العُمstart of 'the lifetime'
فضتَملي بِزَورَةٍ تَعدِلُ العُم
رَcompletion of 'lifetime' وَتَشفىand heals لِكُلِّfor every داءٍailment دَفينِhidden
رَ وَتَشفى لِكُلِّ داءٍ دَفينِ
So he delighted in a visit that equals a life-
So take a bouquet that equals a meadow
time, and heals every hidden ailment.
And heals every hidden chronic ailment
زَورَةًa visit إِنَّهاindeed it لِتَنتَزِعَsurely draws forth الشِعstart of 'the poetry'
زَورَةً إِنَّها لِتَنتَزِعَ الشِع
رَcompletion of 'poetry' كَماas قيلَwas said مِنfrom فُؤادِthe heart of الحَزينِthe sorrowful
رَ كَما قيلَ مِن فُؤادِ الحَزينِ
A visit that truly draws forth poet-
A bouquet that extracts poetry
ry, as was said, from the sorrowful heart.
As it’s said, from the heart of the anguished
فازَhe won مِنهاfrom it بِعَطفَةٍwith kindness وَقُبولِand acceptance
فازَ مِنها بِعَطفَةٍ وَقُبولِ
وَضَمانٌand a guarantee مِنfrom فَيضٍthe bounty of أَقوىthe strongest ضَمينِguarantor
وَضَمانٌ مِن فَيضٍ أَقوى ضَمينِ
From it he gained kindness and acceptance,
He obtained kindness and acceptance from it
And a guarantee from the bounty of the strongest guarantor.
And a guarantee of a flow stronger than dams
وَهوَand he أَحرىmore deserving بِماof what حَظِيَهُhe attained it لِعُمريby my life
وَهوَ أَحرى بِما حَظِيَهُ لِعُمري
لِكَمالِfor the perfection of العُلاeminence وَحُسنُand soundness of اليَقينِconviction
لِكَمالِ العُلا وَحُسنُ اليَقينِ
And he is all the more worthy of what he attained, by my life,
And he deserves what he was granted, by my life
For his perfect eminence and sound conviction.
For the perfection of sublime traits and certainty of faith
لَيسَthere is not فيamong الناسِthe people جاهِلٌone unaware لِسَناهُof his radiance
لَيسَ في الناسِ جاهِلٌ لِسَناهُ
وَهوَand it بادٍmanifest بِمُنتَهىwith the utmost التَحسينِbeautification
وَهوَ بادٍ بِمُنتَهى التَحسينِ
No one among the people is unaware of his radiance,
There is no one among the people ignorant of his loftiness
And it is plain to see in its utmost beauty.
Which shines with utmost excellence
الرِضاapproval حازَهُhe gained it بِلُطفِthrough the gentleness of خِصالِqualities
الرِضا حازَهُ بِلُطفِ خِصالِ
وَالثَناand praise نالَهُhe earned it بِعِلمٍthrough learning وَدينِand faith
وَالثَنا نالَهُ بِعِلمٍ وَدينِ
He gained approval through his gentle qualities,
Contentment he gained with the charm of traits
And earned praise through learning and faith.
And praise he attained with knowledge and faith
عادَhe returned فيناamong us وَالبَشَرُand people بَينَbetween يَدَيهِhis two hands
عادَ فينا وَالبَشَرُ بَينَ يَدَيهِ
عَنon the side of يَسارٍthe left بِهِaround him وَيَمينِand the right
عَن يَسارٍ بِهِ وَيَمينِ
He returned among us, with people before him,
He returned to us while people were before him
Around him, to his left and right.
To his left and his right
يَزدَهيgleams الوَجهُthe face بِالصَفاwith serenity وَعَلَيهِand upon it
يَزدَهي الوَجهُ بِالصَفا وَعَلَيهِ
يَتَجَلّىshines forth المُنىhopes لِكُلِّfor each خَدَّينِtwo cheeks
يَتَجَلّى المُنى لِكُلِّ خَدَّينِ
His face gleams with serenity, and upon it
The face shines with purity and upon it
Hopes shine forth on both cheeks.
Wishes appear for every cheek
فَاِجتَنىso reaped حُلوُthe sweetness of أُنسِهِhis company مِنthose who (intended reading) رَجَوهُhoped for him
فَاِجتَنى حُلوُ أُنسِهِ مِن رَجَوهُ
وَاِغتَنىand became rich فَقَرَّهُمtheir poverty (intended reading) بِعودٍthrough a return ثَمينِprecious
وَاِغتَنى فَقَرَّهُم بِعودٍ ثَمينِ
So those who hoped for him reaped the sweetness of his company,
So he savored the sweetness of his company
And their poverty grew rich through a precious return.
And enriched their poverty with a precious return
وَمَثانيand refrains السُرورِof joy قَدalready أَرخَتهُrecorded its date
وَمَثاني السُرورِ قَد أَرخَتهُ
طابَbecame sweet حَظٌّfortune بَداappeared يَعودُreturns الدَرينيal-Darini
طابَ حَظٌّ بَدا يَعودُ الدَريني
And refrains of joy have recorded its date:
The gates of bliss have opened for him
Sweet fortune dawned: al-Darini returns.
Good fortune shone when the beloved returned
رُبِّmy Lord فَاِحفَظso preserve لَناfor us بَقاهُhis continued life وَمَتِّعand grant enjoyment to
رُبِّ فَاِحفَظ لَنا بَقاهُ وَمَتِّع
هُhim بِمالٍwith wealth مُبارَكٍblessed وَبَنينِand sons
هُ بِمالٍ مُبارَكٍ وَبَنينِ
My Lord, preserve his life for us, and grant
Lord, protect his remaining among us
Him enjoyment of blessed wealth and sons.
And grace him with blessed money and children
وَأَدِمهُand sustain him مُعَزِّزاًgiving strength ذاpossessing عَلاءِeminence
وَأَدِمهُ مُعَزِّزاً ذا عَلاءِ
باذِخُtowering الفَضلِvirtue بِالكِتابِthrough the Book المُبينِthe clear
باذِخُ الفَضلِ بِالكِتابِ المُبينِ
And sustain him as a source of strength, possessed of eminence,
And keep him honored, eminent
Towering in virtue through the clear Book,
Manifesting grace through the clear Book
كُلَّevery يَومٍday مُزَوَّداًendowed بِصَفاءِwith serenity
كُلَّ يَومٍ مُزَوَّداً بِصَفاءِ
وَهَناءًand happiness عَلىthrough مَمَرِّthe passage of السَنينِthe years
وَهَناءً عَلى مَمَرِّ السَنينِ
Every day endowed with serenity
Every day provided with serenity
And happiness through the passing years.
And bliss throughout the years
