قُلsay لِمَنto whoever يُغلِقُshuts شَحاout of stinginess بابَهُhis door
قُل لِمَن يُغلِقُ شَحا بابَهُ
خَوفَfor fear of راجٍa supplicant يَرتَجيهِwho seeks his help مِنfrom عَدَمِdestitution
خَوفَ راجٍ يَرتَجيهِ مِن عَدَمِ
Say to him who shuts his door out of stinginess,
Tell those who shut their doors to guests
Fearing a supplicant who seeks his help in destitution:
Fearing penniless visitors will burden them
اِفتَحِopen الأَبوابَthe doors تَكسِبُكَthey earn you الثَناpraise
اِفتَحِ الأَبوابَ تَكسِبُكَ الثَنا
إِنindeed فَتَحَopening البابَthe door عِنانَthe rein of الكَرَمِgenerosity
إِن فَتَحَ البابَ عِنانَ الكَرَمِ
Open the doors; they will earn you praise,
Open your doors and you’ll earn praise
For opening the door is generosity’s rein.
For opening doors reveals your generosity
