Rejoice, Najib, in a son whose rising was auspicious,

Under the ascendant of good fortune, conjoined with a constellation that rose above you.

He came to you, glad tidings preceding him, amid hope.

So may God protect him until your wishes are fulfilled.

I gave him our name, Abd al-Latif; so be

Gentle with him, for in remembering me lies the beauty of your affection.

And may God grant you the best, and grant him

The best of guidance, through the honor of the Chosen One, your master.

What the herald of joy said, recording its date for good fortune:

“You have gladdened your father with good cheer, O Abd al-Latif.”
