No affair comes to pass without a prior decree of fate.

So there is only contentment, in serenity and distress.

And no affairs, whether of ease or hardship, change

Except through the wisdom of the ever-acting, all-powerful One.

Let no one hate a thing that has hurt him, for it may

Be good for him, in the guise of something harmful.

And if a doer of kindness should fall, he shall have

A matching return for his deed, concealed in the unseen.

And whoever has a share in the unseen will obtain it,

And will not die before he has attained it.

And oh, the kindness the God of bounty has accustomed you to!

So judge by what has passed, and watch for what is awaited.

    وَظَنَّ خَيراً وَلا تَسأَل عَنِ الخَبَرِ

    And let your affairs run as their reins lead them;

And expect good, and do not ask about the news.

In the span between an eye's closing and its awakening,

    God turns hardship into ease.

This is a summer cloud, dispelled from you by

The light of character, morals, and innate dispositions.
