لاlet not تَأخُذَنكَseize you فيconcerning صَديقٍa friend شُبهَةًa suspicion
لا تَأخُذَنكَ في صَديقٍ شُبهَةً
بِوِشايَةٍbecause of slander تَقسوyou are harsh بِهاbecause of it وَتَلومُand you blame
بِوِشايَةٍ تَقسو بِها وَتَلومُ
Let no suspicion of a friend seize you
Do not let a friend's suspicion
because of slander, making you harsh and reproachful.
Make you act harshly and assign blame,
فَلَرُبَّماfor perhaps كانَتit was سَعايَةَa malicious tale ظالِمٍa wrongdoer
فَلَرُبَّما كانَت سَعايَةَ ظالِمٍ
وَاللَهُand God يَعلَمُknows أَنَّهُthat he مَظلومُis wronged
وَاللَهُ يَعلَمُ أَنَّهُ مَظلومُ
For it may be a wrongdoer’s malicious tale,
For it may be the slander of an oppressor,
and God knows that he is wronged.
And God knows he is the one wronged.
