أَعطِgive ماwhat اِستَطَعتَyou can لِلفَقيرِto the poor person وَإِنand even if كُنare (first part of كُنْتَ)
أَعطِ ما اِستَطَعتَ لِلفَقيرِ وَإِن كُن
تَyou (suffix completing كُنْتَ) وَلاand do not تَقُلsay ذاthis ضَئيلِmeager
تَ وَلا تَقُل ذا ضَئيلِ
Give what you can to the poor, even if you
Give what you can to the poor though it be little
are... and do not say, “This is meager.”
Say not 'tis but a mite
فَقَليلُfor a little الفَقيرِthe poor person مِنهُof it كَثيرُmuch
فَقَليلُ الفَقيرِ مِنهُ كَثيرُ
وَكَثيرُand much الغِنىwealth مِنهُof it قَليلُlittle
وَكَثيرُ الغِنى مِنهُ قَليلُ
For a little of it is much to the poor,
For little is much if given by a poor man
and much of it is little to those with wealth.
And much is little if given by the wealthy
