يا حَظَّ مِصرَ فَقَد جادَ الزَمانُ لَها

يا حَظَّ مِصرَ فَقَد جادَ الزَمانُ لَها

بِما تَمَنَّت وَكَم أَبدَت لَهُ وَلَها

بِما تَمَنَّت وَكَم أَبدَت لَهُ وَلَها

O Egypt's good fortune! Time has indeed been generous to her

with what she wished for—how often she revealed her yearning to it!

رامَت لِعَبّاسِها مَولايَ يُمَتِّعُهُ

رامَت لِعَبّاسِها مَولايَ يُمَتِّعُهُ

بِكُلِّ أَمنِيَّةٍ في الدَهرِ أَمَلُها

بِكُلِّ أَمنِيَّةٍ في الدَهرِ أَمَلُها

She sought for her Abbas, my lord, one to grant him joy

in every wish throughout time—her hope:

وَلِيُّ عَهدٍ إِلى المُلكِ المَصونِ بِهِ

وَلِيُّ عَهدٍ إِلى المُلكِ المَصونِ بِهِ

تَشتَدُّ أَزراً وَتَستَبقي الوَلاءَ لَها

تَشتَدُّ أَزراً وَتَستَبقي الوَلاءَ لَها

an heir to the guarded throne; through him

she grows in strength and preserves the loyalty pledged to her.

وَالشُكرُ لِلمُنَعَّمِ الوَهّابِ جَلَّ عَلا

وَالشُكرُ لِلمُنَعَّمِ الوَهّابِ جَلَّ عَلا

هانورُهُ قَد جَلا ثَغراً وَمُنتَزِها

هانورُهُ قَد جَلا ثَغراً وَمُنتَزِها

And thanks to the blessed Bestower—glorious and exalted!

Behold his light: it has brightened a port and a pleasure garden.

هِلالُ خَيرٍ وَرُشدٍ عِندَ مَولِدِهِ

هِلالُ خَيرٍ وَرُشدٍ عِندَ مَولِدِهِ

قَد كَبِرَ الكَونُ إِجلالاً وَراقَ بِها

قَد كَبِرَ الكَونُ إِجلالاً وَراقَ بِها

A crescent of goodness and right guidance—at his birth,

the universe swelled with reverence and grew fair through her.

وَاليُمنُ بادِرِ بِالبُشرى يُؤَرِّخُهُ

وَاليُمنُ بادِرِ بِالبُشرى يُؤَرِّخُهُ

هِلالَ ذي العَهدِ في بُرجِ الكَمالِ زَها

هِلالَ ذي العَهدِ في بُرجِ الكَمالِ زَها

And good fortune—hasten with glad tidings!—records his birth date:

“The heir's crescent shone in perfection's constellation.”

وَسَوفَ يَنظُرُ بَدراً وَالعَزيزُ بِهِ

وَسَوفَ يَنظُرُ بَدراً وَالعَزيزُ بِهِ

لا زالَ يَزدادُ نُعمى لا اِنتِهاءَ لَها

لا زالَ يَزدادُ نُعمى لا اِنتِهاءَ لَها

And he shall behold a full moon; may the sovereign, through him,

ever increase in blessings without end.
