    Eid has come in majestic guise,

    gazing with a reverent eye upon your radiance.

    In its right hand is good fortune, and in its left you see

    the banner of prosperity, proclaiming your wealth.

    And I see it swear to return, fulfilling

    your hoped-for good fortune and all your wishes.

    ما كانَ عَن عَبَثٍ بِذاكَ عَناكا

    So rejoice in what it has hinted at [wording uncertain], and await its promise;

    it did not address you thus in idle jest.
