هَلُمّواcome ياO أَخِلّائيmy dear friends
لِراووقٍto clear wine يُسَلّيناthat cheers us
Come, my dear friends,
Come, my friends
To clear wine that cheers us,
To a garden that soothes us
وَوِلدانَand youths وَغاداتٍand graceful maidens
تُغَنّيناsing to us وَتَسقيناand give us drink
And youths and graceful maidens
With maidens and lads
Who sing to us and give us drink,
Who sing to us and serve us
لِيَعدوso that it may run هَمَّناour sorrow هَرَباًin flight
وَروحُand the spirit الأُنسِof fellowship تُحييناrevives us
So that our sorrow may flee,
To banish our cares and flee
While the spirit of fellowship revives us,
As joy's spirit revives us
وَنَقضيand we spend وَقتَناour time طَرَباًin merriment
وَلاand not نَلقىwe cast بِأَيديناwith our own hands
And we spend our time in merriment,
To spend our time merrily
And not cast ourselves [into ruin] with our own hands.
Without toil in our hands
