Beauty had no dictionary to which we could turn
Beauty had no dictionary we could consult
When something unfamiliar appeared that we could not understand
When something unfamiliar appeared that we did not understand,
حَتّىuntil رَأَيناكَwe saw you تَحويyou encompass الحُسنَbeauty أَجمَعُهُall of it
حَتّى رَأَيناكَ تَحوي الحُسنَ أَجمَعُهُ
فَكُنتُso I became قاموسَناour dictionary فيماconcerning what جَهِلناهُwe did not know it
فَكُنتُ قاموسَنا فيما جَهِلناهُ
Until we saw you encompassing beauty in its entirety
Until we saw you encompassing beauty in its entirety;
And you became our dictionary for all we had not known
So I became our dictionary for what we did not know.
