شَريفُ الجَدِّ مَحمودُ السَجايا

حَليفُ المَجدِ ذو الذَوقِ المُصَفّى

حَليفُ المَجدِ ذو الذَوقِ المُصَفّى

Noble in ancestry, praiseworthy in character,

Noble of ancestry, praiseworthy of traits

an ally of glory, a man of refined taste.

Ally of glory, refined in taste

حَباهُ اللَهُ ما أَزهى وَأَبهى

حَباهُ اللَهُ ما أَزهى وَأَبهى

بِخَيرِ بُنيَةٍ تَمتازُ لُطفا

بِخَيرِ بُنيَةٍ تَمتازُ لُطفا

God blessed him—how radiant and splendid!—

God has granted her the finest and most radiant

with the finest little daughter, distinguished by grace.

With the best of natures, excelling in grace

فَسَماها سَنِيَّةً حَيثُ جادَت

فَسَماها سَنِيَّةً حَيثُ جادَت

كَطَلعَتِهِ وَلَيسَ البَدرُ يَخفى

كَطَلعَتِهِ وَلَيسَ البَدرُ يَخفى

So he named her Saniyya, for she was lovely,

So she was named Siniya wherever she excelled

like his countenance—and the full moon is not hidden.

Like the new moon whose light cannot be concealed

فَقالَ السَعدُ وَالإِقبالُ أَرخَ

فَقالَ السَعدُ وَالإِقبالُ أَرخَ

قُدومَ سَنِيَّةٍ بِالحَظِّ وَفى

قُدومَ سَنِيَّةٍ بِالحَظِّ وَفى

Then good fortune and prosperity said, “Record the date:

Then fortune and success spread their wings

Saniyya’s arrival brought good fortune in full.”
