أَيا عَبدَ الحَليمِ إِلَيكَ بُشرى

أَيا عَبدَ الحَليمِ إِلَيكَ بُشرى

بِها طَيرُ السُرورِ غَدا يَحومُ

بِها طَيرُ السُرورِ غَدا يَحومُ

O Abd al-Halim, here are glad tidings for you;

O servant of the Forbearing One, good tidings to you

at these tidings, the bird of joy has begun to hover.

With it the bird of joy will hover tomorrow

فَقَد وافاكَ ما أَبهى غُلام

فَقَد وافاكَ ما أَبهى غُلام

سَيَبدو مِنهُ عَن أَصلٍ حَليمُ

سَيَبدو مِنهُ عَن أَصلٍ حَليمُ

For there has come to you—what a splendid boy!

For the most splendid boy has come to you

From him will emerge a forbearing one, sprung from that stock.

A gentle soul will show from his origin

وَيَحفَظُهُ الكَريمُ عَلَيكَ حَتّى

وَيَحفَظُهُ الكَريمُ عَلَيكَ حَتّى

بِما يُريضيكَ وَالمَولى يَقومُ

بِما يُريضيكَ وَالمَولى يَقومُ

And may the Generous One preserve him for you until

And the Generous One will protect him for you

he fulfills what pleases you and the Lord.

With what pleases you while the Master remains

فَطالَعَ سَعدَهُ لَمّا تَجَلّى

فَطالَعَ سَعدَهُ لَمّا تَجَلّى

وَلاحَظَ ما تُحِبُّ وَما تَرومُ

وَلاحَظَ ما تُحِبُّ وَما تَرومُ

So he beheld his good fortune when it shone forth,

So his fortune shone when he appeared

and observed what you love and what you seek

And gazed upon what you love and desire

لَهُ أَو ما وَقَد ناداهُ أَرخَ

لَهُ أَو ما وَقَد ناداهُ أَرخَ

جَمالُ الدينِ في رَغدٍ تَدومُ

جَمالُ الدينِ في رَغدٍ تَدومُ

for him—or what [wording unclear]—and he had called to him: 'Record the date:'

To him or when the kindler called him, displayed

'Jamal al-Din, may you endure in ease.'
