شَمسُsun المَكارِمِnoble virtues هَذيthis عِندَat the time ماwhen غَرُبَتit set
شَمسُ المَكارِمِ هَذي عِندَ ما غَرُبَت
بِأَمرٍby a command مِنfrom حُكمِهِhis judgment فيماin what قَضاءَa decree سَبَقhad preceded
بِأَمرٍ مِن حُكمِهِ فيما قَضاءَ سَبَق
When this sun of noble virtues set,
The sun of virtues when it set
By a command from his judgment, in accordance with a prior decree,
By His decree in what was predetermined
بَكىwept الغَمامُthe clouds وَصارَand became الجَوُّthe sky فيin ظُلمٍdarkness
بَكى الغَمامُ وَصارَ الجَوُّ في ظُلمٍ
وَآنَسَand comforted الحورَthe houris فيin الفِردَوسِParadise نورُlight شَفَقِtwilight
وَآنَسَ الحورَ في الفِردَوسِ نورُ شَفَقِ
The clouds wept, and the sky grew dark,
The clouds wept and the sky turned dark
And twilight’s light comforted the houris in Paradise.
The houris saw the glow of sunset in Paradise
