أسفَرتُI unveiled عَنof جَمالِهاher beauty فَذَهَلناand we were stunned
أسفَرتُ عَن جَمالِها فَذَهَلنا
وَاِستَفاضَتand streamed abundantly مِنَfrom العُيونِthe eyes الدُموعُtears
وَاِستَفاضَت مِنَ العُيونِ الدُموعُ
I unveiled her beauty, and we were stunned.
Her beauty dazzled as it was unveiled,
And tears streamed from the eyes.
Tears overflowed from every eye.
فَاِتَّقَيناso we shielded ourselves from بِالراحَتَينِwith both palms ضِياهاher radiance
فَاِتَّقَينا بِالراحَتَينِ ضِياها
وَاِستَكفَتهُand shielded themselves from it بِالفِراشِwith moths الشُموعُthe candles
وَاِستَكفَتهُ بِالفِراشِ الشُموعُ
So we shielded ourselves from her radiance with both palms.
With both hands we shaded ourselves from her radiance,
And the candles shielded themselves from it with moths.
Candles were dimmed by her bedsheets.
