أصليmy root وفَرعيand my branch فارقانيboth left me معاًtogether
أصلي وفَرعي فارقاني معاً
واجتُثَّand was torn out منfrom حبَليهماtheir two cords حَبليmy cord
واجتُثَّ من حبَليهما حَبلي
My root and my branch left me together,
My roots and branches both abandoned me,
And my cord was torn from their two cords.
And I was ripped up from their grasp.
فماso what بقاءُsurvival الغُصنِthe bough فيin ساقهِits stem
فما بقاءُ الغُصنِ في ساقهِ
بعدَafter ذهابdeparture الفَرعِthe branch والأصلِand the root
بعدَ ذهاب الفَرعِ والأصلِ
How, then, can the bough survive on its stem
For how can a branch endure on its bough,
After the branch and the root have gone?
When the branch and root are gone?
