إلى الألفين مطلَعٌ قريب

زيادةُ أربعٍ لي قد بقينا

زيادةُ أربعٍ لي قد بقينا

It is a short ascent to two thousand.

Two thousand's dawn is soon at hand

An additional four remain to me.

Plus four have I remaining years ahead

فإن أهلِك فهنّ لكم وإلا

فإن أهلِك فهنّ لكم وإلا

فهنّ من المتاع لكم سنينا

فهنّ من المتاع لكم سنينا

So if I perish, they are yours; otherwise,

If death takes me, good wishes I extend

Then they are yours to enjoy for years.

If not, useful to you I'll be for many years
