أبلغ لديك بني قيس مغلغلة

إني أقسم فى هزان أرباعا

Convey to the sons of Qays there with you a far-travelling message:

Indeed, among Hazzan I am being divided into quarter-shares.

ابنا حلاكة باعاني بلا ثمن

وباع ذو آل هزان بما باعا

The two sons of Halakah sold me without a price,

And a man of Hazzan's clan sold me at the same price as those two.

يا ابنا حلاكة لما تأخذا ثمني

حتى أقسم أفراسا وأدراعا

O two sons of Halakah, you have not yet received my price,

Until I distribute horses and coats of mail.

قتادة الخير نلتني حذيته

وكان قدما إلى الخيرات طلاعا

Qatadah the generous—his gift reached me,

And he had long been quick to rise to good deeds.
