جنوناً بِها يا طول هَذا التَّجرُّمِ
Her people found fault with me because I was revealing
Her people blamed me because I was madly
a mad passion for her—oh, how prolonged this faultfinding!
In love with her, O how blameworthy!

And I know of no offense of mine against them
I have done them no wrong that I know of
except that I said, “O spreading tree, be well.”
Except to say: "Peace unto you, O Sarha!"

ثَلاثَ تحياتٍ وإِن لَم تَكلّمي
Yes, so be well, then be well, then be well—
Yes indeed, peace unto you, again peace,
three greetings, even if you do not speak.
Thrice peace greetings though you do not speak
