قَوْميmy people سَلامانُSalaman إماif كنتِyou were (feminine) سائِلةًasking (feminine)
قَوْمي سَلامانُ إما كنتِ سائِلةً
وفيand among قريشٍQuraysh كريُمnoble الحِلْفِthe alliance والحسَبِand ancestral honor
وفي قريشٍ كريُم الحِلْفِ والحسَبِ
My people are Salaman, if you are asking;
My people, O Salman, whether you were questioning
And among Quraysh, I am noble in alliance and ancestral honor.
And in Quraish, honorable in oath and lineage
إِنّيindeed I متىwhenever أَدْعُI call upon مخزومًاMakhzum تَرَيْyou will see (feminine) عُنُقاًa troop
إِنّي متى أَدْعُ مخزومًا تَرَيْ عُنُقاً
لاnot يَرعَشونَthey tremble لِضَربِto strike القومِthe people منfrom كَثَبِclose range
لا يَرعَشونَ لِضَربِ القومِ من كَثَبِ
Indeed, whenever I call upon Makhzum, you will see a troop
When I call on Makhzoon, you will see a neck
Who do not tremble when striking the foe at close quarters.
That does not tremble from the blows of the attacking horde
يُدعىis named المغيرةُal-Mughira فيamong أُولىthe foremost عدِيدِهمُtheir number
يُدعى المغيرةُ في أُولى عدِيدِهمُ
أولادُsons مَرْأَسَةٍleadership ليسواthey are not منof الذَّنَبِthe tail
أولادُ مَرْأَسَةٍ ليسوا من الذَّنَبِ
Al-Mughira is named among the foremost of their number:
Al-Mugheera is called first among their multitude
Sons of leadership, not of the tail.
The sons of Mar'asa, they are not of low birth
