    وعيشُنا بك غضٌّ مونقٌ نضِرُ

    Our days through you are white, every one radiant;

And our life through you is fresh, delightful, radiant.

And your face, shining joyfully with generosity—

From its light the sun and moon draw their light.

O sun of the circle of glory's horizon, how many are your

Benefactions beyond the bounds of counting!

God be praised! How many qualities of yours have bewildered

Reason, imagination, and thought in grasping them!

I have said to the one who ignorantly seeks your eminence: indeed,

You have raced, but your lot is to fall short of it.

You assail a noble man whom none has sought to rival

Without returning with a gaze that recoils from him.

That is he who never raced to attain heights of honor

Without sight falling short of catching him.

How often I visited him and saw the earth gathered

In a young man's gathering, where all people were equal.

In hardship and ease, no hope placed in him was disappointed,

Nor do reversals of fortune alter his character.

As though giving to visitors were obligatory

Upon him, expressly decreed by the verses and surahs.

Were it not for him, the world in its entirety would have become

A place with neither a sign nor a trace of generosity.

    لكنَّها لحياءٍ منه تستَتر

    And there is no stinginess in the clouds when they disperse;

But they hide out of shame before him.
