لمن قطع الدهرُ فيه وتيني

My weeping with my two eyes did not suffice me,

My crying with my eyes did not suffice me

For him on whose account Time severed my life-vein.

For whom fate in it cut off my fig tree

فليت توزع دمعي الأنامُ

فليت توزع دمعي الأنامُ

لأبكي عليه بكلِّ العيون

لأبكي عليه بكلِّ العيون

So, if only mankind would share out my tears,

I wish my tears would be shared by people

That I might weep for him with all eyes.

To cry for him with all the eyes
