May you never cease, O Time, unveiling a lovely sight
O time, you still reveal a beautiful scene
Of a countenance whose happiness is joined to its good fortune,
Of a rising whose prosperity connected with auspiciousness

شمساً تُمزِّقُ في أنوارِها الدُجنا
Of a noble man whose brow shone in al-Karkh
For Majid whose renown shone in al-Karkh
As a sun whose rays tear the darkness apart.
A sun that tears through its lights the darkness

The generous world yielded to it utterly

And how often I have heard a caller cry, 'Who will do a noble deed?'
And how often have I heard someone calling out generously
But have you heard anyone but him say, 'I will'?
Have you heard other than him say “It is I”?

Muhammad, of noble character—his palm,
Muhammad, beautiful in character, his rest
white, has so often encircled humankind's neck with favors.
A shining white, how often the brow of glory wore us

By the love of Ali and what he collected
Of glory, and by his two mantles and all they contain,
Of excellence, his coats of mail, and what he guaranteed

Indeed, his glory clothed al-Zawra’ all over
In a mantle of pride in which she rivaled Adn.
With coats of pride in which Aden vied

O you who extend a hand in generosity, whose bounty
O you who extends palms with its hanging fruits
Makes the two most generous—the sea and rain clouds—seem miserly,
So the sea and clouds are miserly

We measured humankind and found them lowlands beside you,
We weighed mankind and found them platforms for you
All of them, and found you their summits.
All together and found you anchors for them

And forbearance is born in your midst, along with you;
And forbearance is born among you with you
How light the mountain would be, if weighed against your infant!
O light burdens, if weighed you would be weighty

May the house of your eminence ever remain a sanctuary for humankind;
The house of your ascent still remains for mankind a sanctuary
Whoever Time has frightened and who seeks refuge in it is safe.
Those whom time regarded highly and through whom we felt safe

You are jewels in the necklace of pride
To the two hands of your eminence adorning Time with you.
The epochs continue to adorn themselves with your hands
