ألا يا أبا السجَّاد إنَّ بوارقاً
لسحبِof the clouds of نداكyour bounty العذبِsweet شمتI watched التماحَهاtheir gleam
لسحبِ نداك العذبِ شمت التماحَها
Lo, O Abu al-Sajjad, indeed, flashes of lightning
from the clouds of your sweet bounty—I watched their gleam—
مخايلportents of صدقٍtruth منكfrom you بالنجحof success بشرتgave glad tidings to
مخايل صدقٍ منك بالنجح بشرت
أمانيَّwishes of نفسٍa soul جئتُI came أرجوI hope for نجاحهاtheir fulfillment
أمانيَّ نفسٍ جئتُ أرجو نجاحها
are true portents from you, bringing glad tidings of success
to a soul's wishes, whose fulfillment I came hoping for.
