ملكٌ قد تقلد الأمر والنهى

ببأسٍ على العدوِّ أشدّ

A king who has assumed the power to command and forbid,

with might most fierce against the foe.

مستضاءٌ برأيه كل آنٍ

مستضاءٌ برأيه كل آنٍ

مستشارٌ في كل حلِ وعقد

مستشارٌ في كل حلِ وعقد

His counsel lights the way at every moment;

he is consulted in every unbinding and binding.

بسط العدل رأفةً وطوى الجو

بسط العدل رأفةً وطوى الجو

ر جميعاً من كل غور ونجد

ر جميعاً من كل غور ونجد

He spread justice in compassion and folded away injustice

entirely from every lowland and highland.

فالورى لابتهالها لعلاه

تستديمُ البقاءَ من غير حدّ

تستديمُ البقاءَ من غير حدّ

So humankind, in its supplication for his eminence,

asks that his life endure without limit.

ماجدٌ أحرز الوزارة إرثاً

عن أبٍ ماجدٍ وعن خير جدّ

عن أبٍ ماجدٍ وعن خير جدّ

A nobleman who gained the vizierate as an inheritance

from a noble father and the best of grandfathers.

لا تقسه بغيره في المعالي

ما قديمُ الفخار كالمستجدّ

ما قديمُ الفخار كالمستجدّ

Do not compare him with others in lofty merit:

long-established glory is not like the newly acquired.

قد نضته يدُ الإمارة سيفاً

قد نضته يدُ الإمارة سيفاً

يخطف العينَ في شعاع الفرند

يخطف العينَ في شعاع الفرند

The hand of princely rule has drawn him as a sword,

dazzling the eye with the radiance of its watered blade.

وبه أورت النجابةُ زنداً

وبه أورت النجابةُ زنداً

فخبا من ملوكها كلُّ زند

فخبا من ملوكها كلُّ زند

And through him nobility kindled a fire-stick,

so every fire-stick among her kings went out.

ففداءً لها الملوكُ جميعاً

ففداءً لها الملوكُ جميعاً

وبحقٍ جميعها لك أفدي

وبحقٍ جميعها لك أفدي

Let all kings, then, be a ransom for her;

and rightly I offer them all as ransom for you.

إنما أنت قطبُ دائرة الفخ

إنما أنت قطبُ دائرة الفخ

ر وعنوانُ كل شكرٍ وحمد

You alone are the axis of the circle of glory,

and the emblem of all thanks and praise.

بك فيحاؤنا اكتستْ كل فخرٍ

بك فيحاؤنا اكتستْ كل فخرٍ

ما اكتستْ مثله لفخرٍ ببرد

ما اكتستْ مثله لفخرٍ ببرد

Through you our Fayha has clothed herself in every glory;

never has she worn such a mantle of glory.

سعدتْ فيك فهي في كل آنٍ

سعدتْ فيك فهي في كل آنٍ

تتباهى بطالعٍ منك سعد

تتباهى بطالعٍ منك سعد

She has found good fortune through you, so at every moment

she glories in an auspicious star rising from you.

يا عيون الفيحاء قرِّي بمولىً

يا عيون الفيحاء قرِّي بمولىً

فيه يقذي طرف الخصيم الألد

فيه يقذي طرف الخصيم الألد

O eyes of Fayha, take delight in a lord

whose presence makes the bitterest foe's eye smart.

وبه فاخري الممالكَ طراً

وبه فاخري الممالكَ طراً

واستطيلي بعزَّةٍ واستبدِّي

واستطيلي بعزَّةٍ واستبدِّي

And through him, vie in glory with all kingdoms,

and tower above them in might, and hold sole sway.
