قضاءُ حقّ الضيفِ أولى به

قضاءُ حقّ الضيفِ أولى به

من شرع الواجب من حَقِّه

من شرع الواجب من حَقِّه

Fulfilling the guest's due most befits

the one who ordained the duty owed to him.

وعلَّةُ المرءِ أرى بُرءها

وعلَّةُ المرءِ أرى بُرءها

أرجى لذي العلَّةِ من خَلقه

أرجى لذي العلَّةِ من خَلقه

And I deem the cure of a man's ailment

best hoped for by the sufferer from the one who created him.

والعبد لا يُصلحُ من شأنِهِ

والعبد لا يُصلحُ من شأنِهِ

إلاَّ الذي يملِك من رقّه

إلاَّ الذي يملِك من رقّه

And none can set the servant's affairs right

except the one who holds him in bondage.
