O you two who dwell together beside the Euphrates,

O you two resting together beside the Euphrates,

by the shrine of Job, prophet of God—

At the shrine of Job, the prophet of God.

أورثتماني وجداً يوم بينكما

أورثتماني وجداً يوم بينكما

عشتُ في الدهرِ يحكي وجدي يعقوب

عشتُ في الدهرِ يحكي وجدي يعقوب

you bequeathed me anguish on the day of parting from you both;

You both bequeathed me grief on the day of your departure;

I have lived through time while Jacob mirrors my grief.

I lived in this world, with Jacob echoing my grief.
