بوركت طلعتُك الغرّاءُ يا

بوركت طلعتُك الغرّاءُ يا

قمراً في فلكِ العلياءِ مُفرد

قمراً في فلكِ العلياءِ مُفرد

Blessed be your radiant countenance, O

Your radiant dawn was blessed, oh

moon, peerless in the firmament of eminence.

Unique moon in the orbit of the eminent

أنت ريحانةُ فضلٍ لا أرى

أنت ريحانةُ فضلٍ لا أرى

مثلَ ريّاها بهذا العصرِ يوجد

مثلَ ريّاها بهذا العصرِ يوجد

You are excellence's sweet basil; I see no

You are the sweet basil of superior virtue, I do not

match for its fragrance to be found in this age.

See the like of its plentiful irrigatedness in this age exist

لك ذكرٌ نشرُه يهدي شذاً

لك ذكرٌ نشرُه يهدي شذاً

فيه أنفاسُ النسيمِ الغضِّ تشهد

فيه أنفاسُ النسيمِ الغضِّ تشهد

You have renown whose spreading bestows a fragrance,

For you is a mention, spreading it perfumes

in which the breaths of the fresh breeze bear witness;

In it the breaths of the soft breeze bear witness

ولسانٌ في القضايا ذَربٌ

ولسانٌ في القضايا ذَربٌ

ينطِقُ الفصلَ إذا الفصلُ تَردَّد

ينطِقُ الفصلَ إذا الفصلُ تَردَّد

and a tongue, incisive in disputes,

And a tongue in matters a piercing blade

that pronounces judgment when judgment wavers;

That speaks the verdict when the verdict is pondered

وبيانٌ لو يُجاري سحرُهُ

وبيانٌ لو يُجاري سحرُهُ

سحرَ هاروتَ وماروتَ لبلَّد

سحرَ هاروتَ وماروتَ لبلَّد

and eloquence whose magic, were it to rival

And an eloquence, if it were to compete with its sorcery

the magic of Harut and Marut, would render it dull.

It would match the sorcery of Harut and Marut

عُقدُ الألبابِ تنحلُّ به

عُقدُ الألبابِ تنحلُّ به

وبه ينتظِمُ الأمرُ فيُعقد

وبه ينتظِمُ الأمرُ فيُعقد

The knots of minds come undone through it,

By it the knots of intellects are unraveled

and through it the matter falls into order and is bound fast.

And by it the matter is organized, so it is knotted
