Indeed, she who dwells within my heart
Indeed, she who has dwelt in my heart
has, with her beauty, robbed me of my senses—
has robbed me of my senses with her beauty,
برشاقةwith the grace of الغُصنِthe bough الرطيبِfresh and supple
ولفتةand the glance of الظبيthe gazelle الغريرِguileless
with the tender bough’s lithe grace
with the grace of a fresh, supple bough
and a young gazelle’s turn of the head.
and the glance of a guileless gazelle.

From her glances she has honed
From her gaze she has honed
a sword whose victim is my heart.
a sword whose victim is my heart.

By the spear-shaft of her swaying form, I swear,
I swear by the lance-shaft of her swaying form,
as she moves proudly in silk:
as it sways in silk:

لولاكِ يا عينَ المديرِ
No wine could ever have intoxicated me
no wine would have intoxicated me
but for you, O eye of the cupbearer.
but for you, O cupbearer's eye.
