A slender-waisted one has prolonged my absorption in love for him,

Elegant in youth—glory to the Maker of his nature.

I read in him, amid the nights of his tresses—the

Long ones—by the radiance of the lamp of his brow,

A page of a face, beloved in my heart through

Letters of meanings that do him no harm,

With a mouth’s ṣād, dotted at the mole’s point,

And the lām of a cheek-lock, carved by his forelock’s shadda.
