لقد قلتُ للأرض ادعتْ بنجومها
عليكِover you السماthe sky فخراًglory فقالتso she said أجيبُهاI answer her
عليكِ السما فخراً فقالت أجيبُها
Indeed, I said to the earth: “She has claimed, with her stars,
I said to the earth, "Boast over me with your stars."

It replied, "I will answer its call."
لئنeven if هيshe بالإشراقwith radiance منهاfrom them تزيَّنتْadorned herself
لئن هي بالإشراق منها تزيَّنتْ
فماso … not الفخرglory إلاَّexcept حيثwhere حلَّsettled نقيبهاtheir chief
فما الفخر إلاَّ حيث حلَّ نقيبها
Even if she has adorned herself with their radiance,
"Though with their rising lights it adorns itself,
glory lies only where their chief has settled.”
True glory rests where the Leader plants his flag."
