قبيحٌunbecoming بحقِّكfor you أنto تبخلاyou are miserly
عليَّtoward me وجودكَwhile your generosity عمَّhas encompassed الملاeveryone
It is unbecoming of you to be miserly
It is ugly of you to be stingy
toward me, while your generosity has reached everyone.
In bestowing your existence upon me

And if another, in withholding his gifts,
And if another were to withhold it
were to spend the night taking my severity lightly,
It would be easy for my difficulties

مقاتلهُhis vital spots مَقتلاًa fatal spot مَقتلاa fatal spot
I would surely strike, with the arrow of poetry,
Then I would be struck by the arrow of poetry
his vital spots, one fatal spot after another;
A lethal, lethal strike
وجرَّدتُand I would unsheathe منfrom مقوليmy tongue صارماًa keen sword

and I would unsheathe from my tongue a keen sword,
And I would unsheathe my sharp saying
then it would cut him apart, joint by joint.
Severing joint by joint
ولكنbut أجلّكI hold you above عمَّاwhat ذكرتI mentioned
فذاكَfor that بحقِّكfor you لنwill not يجمُلاbe fitting
But I hold you above what I have said;
But your dignity precludes what I have mentioned
for that would never be fitting for you.
For that does not befit your right
