إِنif هَنَّؤوكَthey congratulated you بِهاon it فَلَستُthen I am not مُهَنِّئاًoffering congratulations
إِن هَنَّؤوكَ بِها فَلَستُ مُهَنِّئاً
إِنّيindeed I عَهِدتُكَI knew you قَبلَهاbefore it مَحسوداenvied
إِنّي عَهِدتُكَ قَبلَها مَحسودا
If they congratulate you on it, I offer no congratulations.
If they congratulate you on it, I am not congratulating
Indeed, I knew you to be envied before it.
I knew you before it, envied
قَدindeed كانَwas قَدرُكَyour stature لاnot يُحَدُّis bounded نَباهَةًin eminence
قَد كانَ قَدرُكَ لا يُحَدُّ نَباهَةً
وَسَعادَةًand good fortune فَغَداso it became بِهاthrough it مَحدوداbounded
وَسَعادَةً فَغَدا بِها مَحدودا
Your stature was once boundless in eminence
Your fate was boundless glory
And good fortune; through it, that stature became bounded.
And happiness, yet with it became confined
