If the skin of your face, O heretic, were made
The leather of your face, O heretic, if made
into protective covers and bindings for books,
into book covers and bindings,

no spider would climb upon them, wherever they were left,
Would let no spider weave upon them wherever left
nor would the onslaught of flames be feared for them.
Nor would fire's fury be feared for them
