هَل رَأَيتُم مُوَفَّقاً كَعَلِيٍّ
فيamong الأَطِبّاءِthe physicians يَستَحِقُّdeserves الثَناءَpraise
في الأَطِبّاءِ يَستَحِقُّ الثَناءَ
Have you seen anyone as blessed with success as Ali
Have you seen Muwaffaq like Ali
among physicians, deserving of praise?
Among the doctors, deserving of praise
أَودَعَplaced اللَهُGod صَدرَهُhis breast حِكمَةَthe wisdom of العِلlearning (first part of the split word)
أَودَعَ اللَهُ صَدرَهُ حِكمَةَ العِل
مِcompletion of the word 'learning' وَأَجرىand made flow عَلىthrough يَدَيهِhis two hands الشِفاءَhealing
مِ وَأَجرى عَلى يَدَيهِ الشِفاءَ
God placed in his breast the wisdom of learning,
God has endowed his heart with the wisdom of knowledge
and made healing flow through his hands.
And enabled his hands to bring healing
كَمhow many نُفوسٍsouls قَدindeed سَلَّهاhe drew them out مِنfrom يَدِthe hand of المَوdeath (first part of the split word)
كَم نُفوسٍ قَد سَلَّها مِن يَدِ المَو
تِcompletion of the word 'death' بِلُطفٍwith gentleness مِنهُfrom him وَكَمand how many سَلَّhe removed داءَan ailment
تِ بِلُطفٍ مِنهُ وَكَم سَلَّ داءَ
How many souls he has drawn from the hand of death
How many souls has he saved from the grip of death
with his gentleness, and how many ailments he has removed!
With his gentleness, and how much illness has he cured
فَأَراناso he showed us لُقمانَLuqman فيin مِصرَEgypt حَيّاًalive
فَأَرانا لُقمانَ في مِصرَ حَيّاً
وَحَباناand granted us لِكُلِّfor every داءٍailment دَواءَa remedy
وَحَبانا لِكُلِّ داءٍ دَواءَ
So he showed us Luqman alive in Egypt,
He has shown us Luqman alive in Egypt
and granted us a remedy for every ailment.
And a remedy for every malady
حَفِظَmay preserve اللَهُGod مِبضَعاًa scalpel فيin يَدَيهِhis two hands
حَفِظَ اللَهُ مِبضَعاً في يَدَيهِ
قَدindeed أَماتَput to death الأَسىsorrow وَأَحياand brought to life الرَجاءَhope
قَد أَماتَ الأَسى وَأَحيا الرَجاءَ
May God preserve the scalpel in his hands
May God protect the talent in his hands
that has put sorrow to death and brought hope to life.
That has ended sorrow and revived hope
