You have overdone the applause in a setting
You have applauded too much in a place
where weeping would have suited us better.
where weeping would have been more fitting for us.

So honor my patience with your attentive listening,
So honor my patience with your silent attention,
and let the tears be excused, should they applaud.
and let tears be excused if they applaud.
